Plasman Hopkins - 1302 5th Street South Hopkins, MN 55343 is immediately seeking a new member to join our team as: MOLDMAKER The Moldmaker A within the Operational business focus is responsible for providing highly competitive technical support to complex molding operations. Individuals work with a wide range of injection molds, including conventional single material molds, insert molds, multi-shot molds, and specialty molds such as those used for intricate bobbins. The candidate will collaborate with a wide range of other specialists to ensures molds are ready for production and comply with customer specifications. The candidate will also be responsible for troubleshooting and optimizing injection molding processes. The duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Disassemble damaged and worn molds of advanced complexity to determine necessary repairs. Develop a basic understanding of mold function and all components within the mold. Evaluate and study areas needing repairs or rework and consult with supervisor before initiating necessary action. Layout tooling operations before proceeding tooling operations. Machine steel square by milling and grinding. Proceed with detail work by milling, grinding, and turning under close supervision. Fit newly fabricated parts to related sections and assemble tool. Set-up Optidress for form grinding. Set-up and operate conversational side of Makino KE55. Perform mold cleaning and part number changes and properly assemble tool with supervision. Can operate all tool room equipment. Perform other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree in machine tool technology is required. The candidate must be able to apply principles acquired through the study of trigonometry, shop practices, mechanical drawing, mold design, machine tool operation, and E.D.M. operation. Minimum of 4 years of work experience in mold making. Must be familiar and comfortable with operating tool room equipment. Must be proficient in the use of simple shop mathematics. Ability to work shift rotation and/or overtime with little or no prior notice. Ability to perform well in high pressure situations. Self-motivated with excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
