A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A SAFETY MANAGER As a Marine and Industrial Safety Manager, you conduct weekly emergency response and orientation safety training for both trades and office personnel. You practice safe working techniques and re-enforce safety policies, guidelines, and procedures. To ensure the safety of our employees and clients, you conduct random inspections/audits of work sites. This includes visiting projects aboard ships and rigs both on and offshore. At times you may have to report and assist in the control of environmental hazards. Your attention to detail allows you to easily identify possible losses and complete the evaluation of the risk in such loss exposure. Then you develop and implement a plan to correct or prevent the loss. Your ability to understand and administer OSHA, ABS Classification Guidelines, USCG, NAVSEA, and SOLAS requirements aid in your success in this position. QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent At least 2 years of professional experience with a strong knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations Knowledge of hazardous waste regulation and OSHA requirements A bachelor's degree in environmental studies, safety, chemistry, or a related field is preferred, but not necessarily required.
