A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST / JOB COACH As an Employment Specialist / Job Coach, you're responsible for identifying, developing, and maintaining relationships with employers to create job opportunities for participants re-entering the community. You conduct cold calls to employers to determine job leads and the businesses currently hiring. After securing transitional or permanent positions, you perform field visits to ensure all businesses are well-versed in program methodologies and open to hiring our program participants. Additionally, you regularly review local postings and websites to stay updated on job fairs and employer open houses to refer all qualified participants. You take the time to understand the skills of job seekers to identify employment barriers and determine how to best present job seekers to employers. Using your strong creative thinking skills, you design recruitment strategies, job fairs, onsite employer visits, "meet the manager" days, and cyber info sessions for internet job search companies that operate and screen through automated methods. You enter case notes for every job seeker in our system as well as produce daily and weekly reports on employment outcomes. You also track retention to ensure our services are successful in helping participants integrate into the community and workforce. QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST / JOB COACH Bachelor's degree in business, management, human relations, or a related field 3+ years of experience in outside sales or job development with a proven track record Strong understanding of all key activities that customers must complete to successfully gain and retain employment Ability to receive clearance to Riker's Island Covid-19 vaccination Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred. Experience working with public assistance recipients, the homeless, the formally incarcerated, or those affected by the challenges associated with poverty would be a plus, but multiple factors will be taken into consideration.
