Recreation Department Mission Statement - The City of Independence Recreation Department is committed to excellence in programming, facilities, and service while improving the quality of life within our community. The primary responsibility of the City of Independence Pool Maintenance is to perform routine maintenance and cleaning of all Recreation Department Aquatic facilities including pools, pool deck, buildings, locker rooms, and all bathrooms. Employment Details Pay rate $11/hr - $13/hr Seasonal Employment Dates: May 1 - September 15 Regular raises for staff that return consecutive seasons Work Schedule Pool is open 7 days per week Available shifts: 7am-12pm, 12-5pm, 5-10pm Mandatory Weekend rotation Seasonal Part-Time, 25-40 hours per week Training provided Responsibilities Regular testing and maintaining pool water chemistry to health code standards Daily cleaning duties - including vacuuming, skimming, and brushing pools; cleaning/scrubbing pool deck, cleaning in and around pool buildings including locker rooms; emptying trash; moving/restocking supplies Interact/respond to supervisor or resident/guest requests as needed Knowledge and Skills Self-motivated Decision Making Skills Must have a high school diploma Must pass a drug test and background check Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to work outdoors in a mixture of weather conditions and stay on feet for extended periods of time Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol test along with background check required, minors require parental or guardian consent.
