Job Title: ZipTour Operator Level II Department: Mountain Operations Reports To: ZipTour Manager Rate of Pay: $15.50 per hour Shift: Full-time & Part-time, Seasonal positions Variable shifts 9:00am - 7:00pm, Must be available weekends and holidays SUMMARY Provide a safe, informative, and memorable ZipTour experience for Sundance guests. Demonstrates great leadership while coaching and assisting with staff training. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Have at least one season of ZipTour experience or exhibit competence in the ZipTour ride system and Sundance Mountain Resort specific mountain operations. Hold staff accountable to zip line policies and procedures. Coordinate staff to ensure they arrive to their stations in a timely manner. Monitor staff during shifts and be available for assistance. Coordinate staff at the end of the day to efficiently get off the mountain, & notify bike patrol when clear. Replace brake pads on trolleys and document maintenance appropriately. Ensure that daily logs, inspection forms, and documentation is completed correctly and filed in the appropriate location. Document and conduct monthly equipment inspections on helmets, harnesses, and trolleys. Assist manager in annual NDT and inspection processes. Conduct and document complete inspections of all course components and gear. Assist with course maintenance efforts. Conduct morning meetings and provide a meaningful zip line specific training. Attend required meetings and trainings, including required site-specific safety training courses offered by Sundance. Complete daily opening and closing procedures of zip line course. Assist in training new zip line operators to the Sundance standard. Assist supervisor with communicating weather closures with staff, and coordinating transportation off the mountain. Serve as a mentor to coworkers and lead by example. Clearly communicate pre-tour safety orientation and safety instructions to each participant and each group. Fit participants with correct harness and helmets, supervising the appropriate use of all safety equipment. Genuinely engage each guest and build rapport to ensure a transformational experience. Passionately educate guests about the history of Sundance, geology, flora, and fauna. Ensure effective on-mountain recycling. Build excitement about the forthcoming experience. Manage guests during line rescue and assist when necessary or requested by leadership. Exhibit excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Effectively communicate with both adults and children in group and individual settings. Handle stressful situations calmly and effectively. Ensure the safety and wellbeing of guests throughout each tour by following safety standards. Inspect all lines for safety. Inspect each platform for safety, cleanliness, and supplies (water, first aid, etc.). Inspect harnesses, pulleys, carabiners, and helmets for integrity and cleanliness. Check the brake pad to ensure wear is within the acceptable range and that the lanyard assemblies are not twisted or tangled. Review safety precautions at each platform and answer any guest questions or concerns. Demonstrate how to carry gear and wear safety harness. Mount trolleys to the track cable for each rider. Perform essential safety check every time before anyone zips. Assist with the landing of each participant, ensuring their safety on every approach. Zip to next landing point demonstrating proper zipping techniques. Responsible for all gear safety and maintenance, including but not limited to washing, cleaning, sanitizing, and preparing the equipment. Read and understand full ZipTour operations manual for all equipment systems utilized Comfortably work at heights. Handle multiple tasks and be creative and motivated. Be aware of weather conditions and elements to ensure a safe environment for self and guests. Exhibit high level of attention to detail to ensure safety and overall positive guest experience. Have at least one season of ZipTour experience or exhibit competence in the Ziptour ride system and Sundance Mountain Resort specific mountain operations. Understands and utilizes all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and cultivates a positive culture around PPE usage. Share Sundance's story of land preservation and environmental commitment as the opportunity arises. Winter Operations include the following: De-ice cables & clear pathways and platforms of snow. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Have at least one season of ZipTour experience or exhibit competence in the Ziptour ride system and Sundance Mountain Resort specific mountain operations. TECHNICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS Use of a 2-way radio is frequently required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Based on Zip-Tour Rider Requirements, Zip Line Operators must meet the following standards to ride the Zip Line: Measure between 48" and 82" tall. Weigh between 50 and 260 pounds.
