VectorCSP is looking for an experienced Naval Architect, SME level to work in the Washington, DC area. Job Summary: Provide technical support and documentation for ship feasibility, concept, preliminary and contract design, integration, stability analysis, hydrodynamic and seakeeping properties. Utilize familiarity with naval architecture software to perform ship and design analyses. Evaluate systems and equipment, develop and analyze requirements, perform studies and documentation relating to hull form, stability, weights, structures, and design. Develop system documentation and ship specifications for surface assets and boats, perform structural analysis and design using ISO and class society standards. Possess familiarity with aluminum and FRP structure and production processes including welding and lamination as it pertains to structures. Requirements: SECRET Clearance is required. Education and Experience: BS or MS in Technical, Engineering, or Marine degree from ABET accredited institution, related to field of work. 3 to 6 or more years' progressive experience in Naval Architecture disciplines. Experience with Government or commercial shipbuilding programs preferred. 1+ year of experience related to federal ship or boat building acquisition programs required. ยท Additional certifications, such as PE License, PMP, DHS Systems Engineering Certification, or DHS Program Management Certifications, preferred. Essential Duties: Conduct analyses on stability studies, assist with inclining experiments and weight and stability tests, and oversee design development. Conduct, witness, and document tests including stability tests, speed, power, maneuvering, and seakeeping trials Utilize computer applications relating to naval architecture and ship design to perform ship and design analysis Utilize experience with corrosion principles of metals for surface assets and boats Adhere to USN, USCG, IACS and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations Solve complex problems regarding hull design using naval architecture software Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience related to federal ship or boat building acquisition programs preferred. Experience with DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding programs preferred. VectorCSP is a Federal contracting small business based out of North Carolina.
