Sampson Regional Medical Center is hiring a HIM Charge Analyst to join the join the HIM team! Description: This is a full-time position. The selected candidate for this position will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and assigning CPT codes as outlined by coding guidelines; maintaining quality and ethical coding standards; works with nurse managers to ensure all CPT codes can be accurately and completely captured; codes to the highest level of specificity to accurately depict the clinical picture; must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given; this position will serve as back up to the birth registry. Requirements: Associates degree or a minimum of 2 years college education in Health Information Management/Technology or related field preferred. Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred. Licensed Notary of State of NC, required. Knowledge of coding (ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS) coding guidelines. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Must have the ability to read and comprehend medical dictation and other medical documentation found in the body of the medical record. Knowledgeable in reimbursement systems such as APC's, DRG's and payers such as Medicare Medicaid. Ability to train coders Ability to maintain effective working relationships and communication with medical staff, other members of the health care team as well as customers. Strong computer skills, including: Word, Excel/Access, and PowerPoint. Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills essential. Ability to multi-task and well organized. Your Health, Our Passion!
