JOBTITLE: Facilities Maintenance Technician CONTRACT TERMS: 235-day calendar REPORTS TO: Facilities Maintenance & Transportation Director SCCS DISTRICT CLASSIFIED SALARY SCHEDULE: Grade 13 FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT: Non-exempt JOB FUNCTION : Assist the Facilities Director in ensuring that all school grounds and facilities are maintained in a condition of operational excellence at all times. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises school custodial staff. Maintain all safety code requirements set forth by the state, local and board of education guidelines. Perform daily visual inspections of facilities and take corrective action if needed. Assist custodial staff in daily cleaning of the facilities. Performs as directed any maintenance work inside and outside all Board of Education facilities. Assist the Maintenance Director with the maintenance of plumbing, electrical heating and air conditioning, gas piping, and locks/hardware in the Board of Education facilities. Work with Building Administrators to ensure all maintenance and cleaning needs are met. Assist the Maintenance Director in showing contractor personnel the infrastructure of the facilities. Monitors cleaning inventory (cleaning supplies, equipment, etc.) ensuring allocations are accurate, product usage is within budget limits, and/or fiscal practices are followed. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance. Perform other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking. Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing. Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching. Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 75 pounds Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED, college training preferred. Experience in custodial services. Three years of experience in one or more trades areas preferred. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid driver's license EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluations of staff.
