YOUR LIFE AS A SPEECH PATHOLOGIST This full-time speech therapy position in human services works the day shift during school hours . As a Speech Pathologist with our nonprofit, you are responsible for supporting students with disabilities in individual or group therapy sessions according to their individual education plans (IEPs). You also assist classroom and residential teams in the carryover of therapeutic supports throughout an individual's day. Using a variety of speech pathology techniques, you evaluate each student's communication skills, including receptive language, expressive language, articulation, voice, fluency, oral motor skills, and hearing. In addition, you develop a comprehensive service plan according to program policies and regulations. As outlined by the treatment plan, you provide speech therapy sessions to treat communication disorders tailored to the specific needs of each student. You instruct and counsel students and their families regarding the specific nature of their communication impairment and how best to handle it in various speaking situations. Using your exceptional organizational skills, you manage a variety of speech pathology records, such as progress notes, reports, evaluations, plans, case conference reports, and discharge summaries. As needed, you attend individual education plan (IEP) meetings, staffing, case conferences, and department meetings. You also acquire and track insurance authorizations when applicable. When necessary, you function as a case manager and assist in coordinating and obtaining other needed services as well as completing departmental program evaluations in accordance with our nonprofit's policies and procedures. WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU Master's degree in the field of speech pathology Certificate of clinical competence from the American Speech-Hearing-Language Association Current Speech/Language Pathologist license in the state of New York Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Covid-19 vaccination At least three years of speech pathology experience working with young children is preferred but multiple factors will be taken into consideration.
