Description: The Library Administration and Management Consultant (LAMC) provides consulting services to Missouri public libraries, library boards and Friends groups. The LAMC also functions as project lead for statewide projects relating to public library administration and management; plans library administration and management training opportunities; and assists with the State Library's Continuing Education grant program and other grant-related projects and programs as assigned. Job Functions and/or General Responsibilities: Provides consulting services to libraries on issues relating to public library administration and management, including assisting new and experienced directors and branch managers, Library Boards of Trustees and Friends groups. Develops and coordinates statewide projects to improve public library administration and management. Develops, coordinates and maintains a basic curriculum of programs to enhance the knowledge and skills of those involved with public library administration and management, including library leadership staff and library board members. May conduct some presentations and/or select subject expert presenters to develop appropriate training. Works with staff to develop and maintain appropriate evaluation tools and records of continuing education activities and statewide initiatives, particularly for the LSTA five-year evaluation and annual state budget documents. Assists the State Librarian with short and long range planning, including but not limited to LSTA annual state plans and LSTA five-year plans. Works with the Library Development team on general program development and special committees as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Applied knowledge of library services, particularly in the area of public library administration and management, including building projects. Ability to design appropriate continuing education opportunities, using a variety of formats, delivery methods and software. Ability to develop and make presentations in small and larger group settings, and facilitate discussions. Ability to travel independently as needed to conduct workshops, provide onsite consulting and other project requirements. Qualifications: A minimum of three years' experience in a responsible professional position as a department head or library director and a Master's Degree in Library Science are highly preferred. An alternative Master's or Bachelor's degree in combination with related work experience will be considered.
