Job Summary: We are a heavy civil construction firm seeking to fill a Reinforcing Ironworker position for a construction project located at Bluestone Dam in Hinton, WV. Essential Responsibilities: Material handling in a safe manner as well as safe installation, tying, splicing of reinforcing steel. Safe operation of man lifts and welding and fabricating skills preferred. Ability to work under the direction of designated foreman or superintendent and as a part of a team. Experience and certification related to safe rigging and signaling of cranes and other load handling equipment. Ability to read and understand project specifications and required contract drawings and shop drawings related to reinforcing steel installation. Ability to work independently and is a self-starter. General laborer duties as necessary Other Skills/Qualifications: Strong work ethic is a must Previous employment in Construction Recent work history with background in reinforcing steel and/or concrete construction. Must be able to pass a background screening in addition to complying with company drug testing requirements. Work Environment: Works on construction sites outdoors and in a variety of weather conditions . Environment can be dirty and noisy . Wears appropriate protective clothing and equipment including gloves, ear protection and fall protection as necessary. Physical Demands: Lifting up to 50 lbs. Stands frequently and walks about the work areas including on reinforcing steel and at heights. Squatting, crouching or kneeling is required . Twisting the body or neck is required . Bending is required to facilitate the lifting of items to add to the production process. Employees frequently lift and carry raw materials Repetitive hand and arm movements are required when performing assigned duties . The employee must be able to perform the physical demands of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Educational Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects, and in a heavy manufacturing facility with various safety hazards which are potentially life-threatening to the employee. This position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position may also entail project site work at night and on weekends on an as needed basis. This position will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.
