THE MARLENE MEYERSON JCC MANHATTAN POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE : Head Teacher, Pre-Nursery Department: Center for Family Life Reports To: Yael Kahn Pinto FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Date: 3/15/2023 Summary: The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan seeks a part-time Head Teacher for our Turning 2s, Shabbat Together, and My Little Clubhouse pre-nursery programs. The position is available for September - June with the potential to continue next summer. Turning 2s is designed to be a young child's first drop-off experience in a classroom setting. My Little Clubhouse is designed to be a toddler's first classroom experience with their grown-up by their side. Our pre-nursery programs are play-based, open-ended classes that encourage exploration, growth and discovery. We strive to create inclusive and engaging environments where children and families can become part of a community and develop lasting connections. Requirements: At least 3 years experience in a classroom setting with two-year olds or an advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is required. Knowledge of Shabbat and Jewish holidays is preferred. Responsibilities: Collaborate with co-teachers to: Communicate with families through reflection emails, posts, etc. Organize and maintain a classroom. Maintain the safety, happiness, and growth of children in classes Plan innovative, open-ended, developmentally appropriate, child-centered curriculum. Ability to work collaboratively on a teaching team to execute successful classroom curriculum. A kind, warm, welcoming, and reflective demeanor. Additional time for team planning, supervisory, and full staff meetings. Excellent ability to interact, communicate, and build relationships with parents and caregivers. Qualifications: Knowledge of development and learning for children under 3. Proactive, open to learning and growing with mentoring from supervisors and co-teachers. Familiarity with Reggio Emilia, play-based and child-centered learning a plus. Knowledge of Shabbat, Jewish holidays, and values a plus. Certification in infant/child CPR and First Aid a plus.
