SPECIAL EDUCATION COORDINATOR OUR MISSION Through academic rigor, character development, and a structured learning environment, Soleil Academy Charter School ensures that every transitional kindergarten through 5th grade scholar has the foundation necessary for college success and a future bright with opportunity. THE POSITION The Special Education Coordinator will oversee the implementation of a successful special education program and will oversee the special education paraprofessionals on site . THE RESPONSIBILITIES The Teacher's essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide Quality Instruction to all Scholars Develop and maintain a positive, achievement-oriented, supportive and collaborative culture of high expectations that motivates and inspires scholars to learn. Possess Special Education area expertise and a deep knowledge of effective evaluation, assessment, and specialized instructional techniques to drive scholar learning. Know how to use data, technology and innovative teaching methods to monitor growth and scholar progress toward Individual Education Program (IEP) goals, drive classroom learning and prepare all scholars to succeed . Manage caseload of scholars with an IEP by ensuring that all IEPs are thoroughly compliant and serve as a true roadmap for a scholar's achievement trajectory, including collaborating with others to write IEPs. Hold robust IEP meetings with all team members as active contributors. Maintain up-to-date documentation on caseload. Partner with related service providers to ensure high-quality services for scholars on the caseload. Ensure that all school , LACOE , county, state, and federal Special Education requirements, including accommodations and modifications for scholars with disabilities, are followed with fidelity for all scholars. Maintain up-to-date information on the caseload of scholars with IEPs in SEIS for IEP, including updating scholar and IEP information, regularly tracking services, and running and analyzing compliance reports. Provide direct services to scholars in a variety of settings and content areas, including but not limited to push-in classes, co-taught classes, and other settings. Support general education teachers and administrators by developing related goals and objectives and recommending policies, planning, and implementation strategies to meet the needs of students with IEPs Welcome and incorporate feedback from the coaching, guidance and feedback provided by school leaders, peer coaches and content support managers. Collaborate with special education coordinators and site education specialists during peak case management times, for example, when several initials/triennials occur simultaneously Perform educational assessments in accordance with California State Standards, SELPA guidelines, ECS policy, school programs and IEP goals. Train, develop, and supervise special education paraprofessionals . Contribute to the School Community Seek opportunities, both individually and through school-based initiatives, to build strong and collaborative relationships with f aculty, staff, families and scholars. Consult with parents (or guardians) and members of related disciplines, including outside agencies, regarding the needs of an individual with exceptional needs. Actively engage in School and externally provided professional development . Prepare for and attend up to five (5) evening scholar, parent or other school events that do not exceed more than three (3) hours per event, including Report Card Nights, Open House, Scholar Exhibitions, etc. Serve actively on at least one ( 1 ) School- established action committee during the school year. Attend all faculty and professional development meetings . Maintain consistent and meaningful communication with parents . Under the direction and supervision of the Principal (internally) and Sped Administrator (externally) Uphold Soleil Educational Philosophy and Standards of Excellence Support Soleil's a spiration to prepare all scholars to have the foundation necessary for college success . Follow School grading policies Maintain accurate, current records for attendance , coursework, and submit timely completed report cards and school-wide assessment records. Provide a cohered plan for classroom discipline aligned to the school-wide behavior management policy and keep documentation of all interventions taken to manage scholar behavior. Adhere to policies and procedures as outlined in the Soleil Employee Handbook. E nsure timely and high -quality submission of school requirements such as intellectual preparation, unit plans, and re-teaching plans. Exhibit a continuous improvement mindset while striving to exemplify Soleil's commitment to the school community.
