Annually Serendipity serves a variety of students, aged 6 to 21, and their families. SUMMARY Independently coordinates mental health treatment of students with behavioral, mental, emotional or physical problems and collaborates with psychiatric team in diagnosis and treatment plan by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Works directly in treatment relationship with students, individually or in groups. Helps students to respond constructively to treatment and assist in adjustment leading to next educational placement. Analyzes collected data. Investigates case situations and presents information to other members of treatment team, on student's family and social background pertinent to diagnosis and treatment. Consults with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to determine causes of problems and effect solutions. Evaluates student's social and emotional progress, and counsels student concerning perceived problems. Completes clinical documentation including assessments, behavioral plans, case notes and formulates a DSM diagnosis. Provides classroom staff with clinical consultation. Interprets psychiatric treatment to student's family and serves as primary school contact for the family. Encourages staff to share observations and concerns regarding individual student cases by maintaining professional friendliness and credibility. Implement CPS and principles of Re-Education as part of our integrated intervention model. Provides liaison services and coordination between school, home, and other various elements in the student's life such as family service agencies, child guidance clinics, courts, protective services, and doctors. ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assists organization staff members through individual and group conferences in analyzing case problems and in improving their diagnostic and helping skills. Provides in-service training for experienced workers in areas such as new policies, procedures, and regulations. Performs crisis intervention and CPI approved physical management. Mentors peers as requested to assist with orientation and training of new staff or staff new to position. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This Job Has No Supervisory Responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education: Master's degree from four-year college or university in Social Work or Counseling and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification/Licenses: Must meet QMHP credentialing requirements. Current LPC, LCSW, LMFT license or license eligible strongly preferred. General Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and clinical documents; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, students, parents, educators, clinicians, and the general public; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee may occasionally need to exert force and perform physical management techniques. Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function. Other Requirements: Criminal background check. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to assault by a student; the employee may occasionally be exposed to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but occasionally may be very loud.
