Job Summary: Tool and Die Technician is responsible for carrying out various duties, task for making and maintain precision tools (such as jigs, molds and dies), special guides and holding devices. They will work with a variety of materials including metals, and alloys as stocks or castings. Essential Job Responsibilities: Prepare, assemble, fit and repair tools and dies for production. Check dimensions with precision measuring instruments. Read and work from blueprints and sketches for design details. Make die components, tips, and shot rods as needed. Set up and operate all tool room equipment. Monitor the tools and dies used to ensure efficient run rates and identify necessary repairs or possible improvements. Identify problems and recommend improvements for the Tooling and Engineering department. Attend to machine breakdowns to identify the root cause and solve the problem Check tool configurations according to schedule. Work on dies as needed per work order. Identify problems and recommend improvements to Tooling and Engineering Department. Help train other tool room employees. Ensure that the facility areas and work environment are free of hazardous objects and substances. Complete and keep proper record of work activities and work orders. Keep the department and production area clean and orderly at all times; also following lean principles. Work with other toolmaker personnel to complete their projects on time. Communicates and report all problems to Supervisor in a timely manner. Education & Qualifications Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent and/or vocational certification in toolmaking and/or related field Prior experience in die casting manufacturing environment or similar is preferred Ability to use various hand machinery and tooling equipment Demonstrate the ability to use precision measurement instruments such as micrometers, gauges and vernier calipers to check the tool's dimensions Ability to accurately record numerical data Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Able to work in a team environment and work independently with little supervision Complete tasks on time and perform tasks with a safety consciousness Demonstrate mechanical aptitude Attention to Detail REPORTS TO: Toolroom Manager and/or Engineering Manager
