Department: BFA Film Reports To: Senior Production Manager, Director of Operations Chair WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:00-4:00 pm Occasional Saturdays for Department events Position Overview: This position manages and coordinates the use of the five film department studios, including reservations and oversight of equipment; ensures that studios are fully functioning and maintained; inspected and secured before and after use. Is responsible for organizing and securing a gaffing room in which lighting and electrical equipment is stored, checked out and returned. Work with students and staff to see that studio policy is followed and that safety is maintained. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with the Production Manager and Director of Operations to create, communicate and implement studio policies and procedures. Manage and supervise the Film studios daily, ensuring they are clean, functional and safe. On-premises and available to be reached by students, faculty, and staff when a question or a problem arises regarding the studios. Check for any safety concerns and report them right away. Fix when possible. Maintain a digital system for scheduling and reserving studios. Create, maintain, and coordinate BFA Film day and Cont. Ed. Class schedules. (includes scheduling rooms and solving potential scheduling conflicts) Plan and oversee the transfer and storage of relevant equipment to studios. Check lights are functioning properly and flags/nets/diffusion are put away. Maintain the daily operation of the dimming board. Maintain a database of studio inventory. Recruit and manage studio assistants to aid safe and proper studio use. Coordinate overnight studio use with Production Office and Security. Responsible for AV studio carts, including hardware & software installation and daily general function Train students and staff on properly using the Fisher Dolly and dimming board. Research and aid in the budgeting of studio purchases. Communicate any problems promptly to the supervisor. Serves as liaison with vendors and manufacturers. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree (Film preferred) At least two years of supervisory experience or responsibility for facilities management. Deep understanding of various Grip & Electric equipment, including using a lighting board. Filmmaking experience. Experience in film production. Shows initiative and pride in their work. Self-motivated proactive approach to problem-solving. Excellent communication skills. General knowledge of AV equipment and cables. General knowledge of Mac computers and editing and audio software from Adobe, Apple & Avid. General Carpentry skills are a plus.
