Position Description Summary APT Research is hiring a Junior Software Airworthiness Engineer to conduct software system safety evaluations for DoD systems to support our Huntsville, AL operations. This position is hybrid, but the candidate needs to live near Huntsville, AL in order to meet when needed. The tasks include: Supports software system requirements identification and development process by evaluating and assessing planning, design, development, production, and operations for DoD software systems architectures. Performs software safety-critical and mission-critical systems analysis throughout the life cycle from initial requirements through design, implementation, testing, delivery, and support. Utilizes excellent written and oral communication skills to maintain successful daily interaction with customer and teammates. Required Minimum Education/Experience : Candidate must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or an equivalent technical degree. Minimum of 1-5+ years of airworthiness experience Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Experience developing and coordinating presentations. Familiarity with programming languages, such as C++ or Ada. Good verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Experience: (i.e.: Knowledge, skills, abilities, software, etc.): Familiarity with software development/lifecycle IEEE 12207, MIL-STD-498 Familiarity with MATLAB and Simulink, Rhapsody, DOORS, SCADE, etc. Familiarity with Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) Experience with Model-Based Software Development Experience developing embedded mission critical software in C, C++, or ADA Experience with Army Aviation SW Systems Experience with the Systems Readiness Directorate (SRD) Knowledge of the integration and verification of large systems Knowledge of the Airworthiness Release (AWR) process Knowledge of Army Military Airworthiness Certification Criteria (AMACC) or MIL-HDBK-516C Airworthiness Certification Criteria Security Clearance Requirement: (applicants selected for positions requiring a Security Clearance will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information): An active DoD Secret clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance is required. Work Environment : Office environment Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate, and timely communication, both verbally and written Ability to interact professionally with coworkers, management, and customers Requires ability to travel domestically (within the U.S.) Physical Requirements : Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a workstation / desk Ability to lift >15 lbs.
