The Hun School of Princeton seeks a dynamic and creative Part-Time College Counselor. Reporting to the Director of College Counseling, this part-time position is exempt, and works twelve (12) months per year. The College Counseling Program at The Hun School of Princeton is designed to discover and ultimately achieve the best college placement for each student. It begins with a college counseling team second-to-none. Our college counseling professionals are experts in their field who leverage their considerable experience and relationships to enhance their work with Hun School families. The Hun School College Counseling team hosts dozens of education programs for students and parents throughout the year, such as panel discussions with top college admission professionals and case study programs where students and parents get to examine real-life admission scenarios. They offer affinity group programming for LGBTQI+ students, HBCUs, Women's Colleges, and collegiate student athletes. They are adept and wholly dedicated to getting to know their counselees early and helping them build a menu of great opportunities so they can identify and meet their collegiate goals. Responsibilities: Counseling and supporting students in the college selection and application process; Working with students individually and in small groups; Building relationships with parents; Writing counselor statements and providing feedback on applicant essays; Advising students on course selection; Taking part in professional development opportunities; Qualifications: Master's degree preferred; Minimum of three to five years combined experience in college counseling and/or college admissions, with an emphasis on college counseling, is preferred; Experience in an independent school environment a plus; A love for working with young people; A commitment to a diverse and inclusive community; A passion for working in an innovative, experiential, and student-centered environment; Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with students, parents, faculty, and staff; Personal qualities including flexibility, resilience, approachability, and kindness; Demonstrated communication, organization, and management skills; Excellent listening, counseling, verbal and written communication skills; Capacity to periodically work beyond and outside the typical workday in order to meet the needs of the College Counseling Office and the School; Must possess good judgment, tact, sensitivity, and discretion in the handling of confidential information, materials and situations; Excellent technology skills and experience integrating technology into the college counseling process; Familiarity or experience with online instruction including the use of Zoom meeting technology; Knowledge of SCOIR will be an advantage; A desire to contribute to school life outside of the classroom on a lively boarding school campus.
