Photojournalist/Digital Asset Specialist

Job Summary: This position supports the University Land Grant Mission by completing photographic assignments for use in Cooperative Extension and Agricultural Research media publications and/or Land Grant promotional materials, internal communications or for other purposes. Duties And Responsibilities: Use professional expertise and skills to capture professional, high-quality images; assignments will include outdoor agricultural related shots, indoor laboratory research shots in addition to candid images, portraits, buildings, etc. Capture the essence of agricultural related operations with minimum interruptions to normal daily operations. Produce photography in various methods including printed/digital media, banner promotional displays, flyers, etc. Perform retouching and image adjustments after shoots. Excellent knowledge and skills using Adobe Creative Suite and/or related software. Proficient in utilizing lights to enhance subjects including artificial or natural light. Coordinates with writers and graphic designer to ensure photographs will present a unified message matching the purpose, tone, and audience of the publication. Coordinates with graphic designer in managing digital assets including tagging photos and other digital assets. Must be able to work independently. Ability to work to agreed objectives and deadlines. Ability to adapt to a wide variety of assignments. Performs other related duties as assigned. Physical Requirement: Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. May be required to knee, squat, or stand for extended periods to capture images. Must be able to travel including overnight travel at times. Must be able to take photos in an outdoor environment at times. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in photography or similar related field.
