MOUNTAINLAND TECHNICAL COLLEGE Invites applications for the position of: Diesel Technology Instructor in Training Hours: Monday - Friday, 28 hours a week Location: 2301 W. Ashton Blvd Lehi, Utah 84043 Reports to: Diesel Technology Program Lead Status: Part-Time/ Non-Exempt Wage: $21.00 /hour Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Timely completion of assignments from the Lead Instructor. Regularly meet with the Lead Instructor to discuss improvements, progress and training. Complete Instructor Training in Bridge. Develop the following instructor skills: Development of program curriculum and lesson plans. Teach engaging lessons, using hands on, skill-based competency training to the greatest extent possible. Successful supervision of students during classroom instruction and labs. Demonstrate and teach skills in the shop. Model and enforce safety in the shop including wearing appropriate protective gear, maintaining shop cleanliness, knowing where all safety shut offs, first aid kits, and SDS sheets are located, properly disposing of fluids, and practicing proper safety procedures while working on vehicles. Earn at least three ASE T Series certifications including T-8 "Preventative Maintenance & Inspection" Learn methods of student testing and carry out quizzes and other evaluations. Understand the purpose and process to maintain accurate and current reports and records regarding student accountability, attendance, and performance. This includes maintaining accurate rolls, grades, course sign-offs, attendance, and the timely report of information in Canvas and North Star. Maintain a student-oriented approach, desirable classroom conditions. Evaluate instruction/learning by means of written, and practical tests. Check equipment daily for hazards, ensuring it is maintained and properly repaired. Follow and enforce all rules of the program and MTECH. Work with the Lead Instructor to learn how to market and recruit for the program through exceptional teaching, contact with high schools and industry, and participation in job fairs and other community events. Assist with and attend employer advisory committee meetings. Attend all required department and faculty meetings. Assist with the gathering of information to report for Completion, Placement and Licensure. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: High School Diploma is required. Applicants must have a certificate or Associates Degree in Diesel Technology from an accredited trades/technical school or college/university OR at least 2 years of work experience as a diesel technician/mechanic.
