Server/Sandwich Maker Do you get energized by serving customers and working around mouth watering food? Do you have at least one year of experience working in a restaurant? Are you looking to earn some solid cash while you go to school or have another job? If you said, "yep that's me", then read on because we may be a match! Surf City Sandwich is a local eatery that specializes in serving up the tastiest sandwiches in all of Santa Cruz County. We are an award-winning craft sandwich restaurant, owned and operated locally, and growing like gangbusters. We aren't like those typical chain places that microwave and steam prepackaged food that comes from some far-off commissary. We are a "from scratch" kitchen. All of our 23 sandwiches (and growing) are fired to order and prepared by culinary professionals. What We Need From You At least one year of restaurant experience Customer Service Skills. We love our customers, and our customers love us! Being a Server means you represent the brand and treat our customers like gold. Cleaning skills. Do you love cleaning? Probably not, who are we kidding, if you said yes, you might need your head examined. Don't worry, we are not asking you to be a janitor. You just need keep your work station and the dining area clean and tidy and do some dishes. But don't despair, you're still earning TIPS whether you are serving a customer or washing dishes which is a shared responsibility between the team. A Willingness to Learn More. That means learning how to work on our cold sandwich station assembling cold sandwiches like our number one selling sandwich the "Johnny Utah". You will also learn how to do some prep (chopping, mixing, slicing, and portioning). Pay and Work Schedule Based on your experience, you may start at $15.50/hr but that's not all. The icing on the cake is that we tip share. Your tips will be based on how much was given by customers that day and how many hours you worked. Average tips will up your hourly by as much as $7-10/per hour (and sometimes more). So even if you're in early in the morning chopping chicken or closing up shop in the afternoon, you will still share in that tip pool. We also offer a free menu item (on most of our sandos) for you to take home every shift you work. Right now, we need someone who can work mornings until around 3:30pm and most definitely on weekends. If you can't work weekends, this isn't going to be the job for you. As a restaurant professional, you understand weekends are a must in this business so we are sure this won't be an issue.
