COMPANY PROFILE The Plant Company (TPC) is a newly established business currently operating in its Phase 1 production facility. Phase 1 encompasses a 5 acre greenhouse facility along with a 1.5 acre production barn. This is a state of the art, controlled environment greenhouse for the sustainable production of tropical indoor foliage plants of consistent and exceptional quality. The four core values that identify this company are: Caring About People, Plants, and Process Growth Oriented Customer First "Can Do" Attitude JOB SUMMARY The Human Resources Generalist will provide administrative assistance to the operations of the Human Resource function. This position will focus on recruiting, policy and procedure administration, training, and various administrative duties. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, well organized and have worked in a multi-tasked, fast-paced environment. Candidate must have a solid foundation and understanding of Human Resources. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Trusted liaison between employees and management Ensure effective utilization of positive employee relations. Engage associates and spend time on the production floor to build relationships and knowledge. Conducts engaging New Hire Orientations and ensures accurate onboarding processes for all new hires. Support safety team to ensure a safe work environment where accidents are prevented where possible and any injury/incident is handled with the employee's well-being as the top priority. Assisting with worker's compensation administration, investigating root causes and handling countermeasures to prevent future occurrences. Represents Human Resources and The Plant Company at business functions in a professional manner as needed. Attends and represents TPC at job fairs and recruitment events. Maintain impeccable recordkeeping, file maintenance, and compliance binders. Provide administrative support to Human Resources Answers and directs departmental phone calls. Receives and distributes office mail. Receives and signs for packages as well. Support the rollout of HR related initiatives and communications (i.e., open enrollment, incentives, compensation strategy, policy/procedure changes). Creation of training opportunities based upon management request and employee feedback. Revises and updates job descriptions where necessary. Schedules and organizes appointments for human resources; takes minutes during departmental meetings. Proofreads and types documents, SOP's, and correspondence produced by department. Processes required paperwork for employee transfers, changes in job classification, salary increases, and other related employment matters. Assist with temp labor inquiries and mitigation of timecard reconciliations. May assist with preparation of human resource reports such as attendance, new hire, and turnover reports. Investigation tracking and follow-up. Conducts sexual harassment training and monitors compliance for annual training. Trained backup resource to administer bi-weekly payroll for on-site employees and a multi-state remote workforce. Employee Engagement activity planning and budgeting. Pre-screening candidates for job opportunities through accurate background checks and adverse actions if/when necessary Maintain accurate key card inventory, data, and compliance reports. Conducts thorough employment references for qualified candidates. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Tracks annual and 90-day performance evaluations. Knowledge, facilitation, and adherence to Worker Protection Standard (WPS) training. Maintain accurate Human Resource Information System (HRIS) Maintain accurate Applicant Tracking System (ATS). Ambition to create new processes and procedures to streamline Human Resources functions in a growing company. Performs other related duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES: Personable, decisive, and assertive as needed. Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred. TPC utilizes interpretation and translation services if/when needed. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Extensive knowledge of office management systems and procedures. Ability to operate general office equipment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Conflict resolution, de-escalation, and mediation skills. Ability to type 50 words a minute. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Ability to maintain confidential information. PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS: aPHR - Associate Professional in Human Resources - Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) or SHRM - CP Certified Professional - Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) or Professional in Human Resources - PHR - Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Preferred Associates Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related area required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the HRIS/ProLiant payroll systems. Human Resources or equivalent field experience required. 2-3 years of experience in HR disciplines PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Bending, stooping, and squatting involved in the scope of role. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions, including humidity, various outdoor temperatures, and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the greenhouse.
