Description:
We serve well-known industrial and public utility customers; construction and general contractors for structural and ornamental enterprises; and display or point of purchase design vendors. Description Summary: Review incoming RFQs for completeness and request additional information from customer or sales staff. Follow up to obtain missing and/or incomplete information and to correct inaccurate specs. Create material take-off from customer provided information and obtain estimates for outside costs for materials and subcontracting work, e.g., machining, detailing, painting, welding, anodizing, etc. and incorporate same into the quote. Receive/compile inputs from manufacturing, engineering and sales to finalize material and fabrication (labor & overhead) costs. Combine materials pricing with appropriate mark-ups depending on competition and market conditions. Provide cost data for approval to sales and/or General Management as required. Formalize quote and submit approved written quote to customer. Work directly with suppliers / vendors in obtaining estimates for products / services Recommend 'make/buy' decisions and offer input regarding vendor performance. Process Control: Through established processes and procedures assure that company standards are maintained. Identify potential process improvements and make suggestions to management. Quality: Responsible for accuracy of estimates prepared and work performed. Safety: Contribute to the safe working environment and adherence to all company safety practices. Periodic participation in safety committee representing the department. Housekeeping: Responsible for general cleaning of personal work area. Asset Control: Proper use and care of company owned equipment. Skills Required: 3-5 years' estimating experience required Experienced background in Structural/Industrial/Miscellaneous Steel Fabrication required Knowledge of various steel fabrication material (Carbon/Weathering Steel/Aluminum/Stainless Steel/Incoly/Monel/Titanium/Copper/etc.) preferred Advanced Excel training, & knowledge required Must be able to interpret blue print drawings, structural drawings and specifications giving consideration to the relationship of other building trades Must be technically sound in steel fabrication for multiple processes including structural steel fitting and welding, Cutting; (Saw, Plasma, Laser, and Shear), Rolling, Forming, Drill, Punch, Milling, and Lathe Strong understanding of business math. Strong analytical skills and mechanical aptitude Strong customer/supplier relationship skills Strong problem solving, verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, proven ability to deliver results, strong ability to multi-task and prioritize while under constraints from customers Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently with minimum guidance Effective PC skills require (Microsoft Office), familiar with AutoCAD, Tekla, and Solidworks software and/or similar design software Knowledgeable of internet file transfer and file conversion techniques Must be highly motivated self-starter and able to work independently Must be able to work well with other employees in a team environment within a rapidly developing Company We check references and assess skills as part of our hiring process.
