DEVELOPMENT MANAGER (Full-time Hybrid Position) About ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS-TDI) | www.als.net : The ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) is the world's foremost drug discovery lab focused solely on ALS. Our mission is to discover and develop effective treatments for ALS. Day In the Life: The The Development Manager will work as a member of the Development Team, and will be responsible for raising the funds to advance the research conducted at the ALS TDI, and will identify potential prospects, develop cultivation and solicitation strategies, and close asks with donors. Development Manager will report directly to the Senior Director of Development and will work in conjunction with multiple teams. You will develop strong ties to the ALS community through social media engagement, in-person meetings, attending and speaking at events, and providing information regarding the ALS TDI's work and the general ALS research landscape. Responsibilities: Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and networks capable of gifts, events, and campaigns over $1000, with a goal of raising $650,000-$1,000,000 Learn and convey scientific processes and programs critical to the Institute. Develop and communicate broad knowledge of the ALS therapeutic landscape. Conduct meetings and facility tours, both on your own and with team members to cultivate prospects. Adhere to outreach and CRM policies as you connect with more than 1000 assigned leads annually. Attend, manage, and speak at meetings and fundraising events throughout the country. Conceptualize, execute, attend, and promote events to leverage donor networks. Accurately project revenue and expenses Support other ALS TDI development initiatives; managed by your colleagues when called upon. Maintain awareness of trends in the healthcare industry that can have an impact on fundraising efforts. All other duties as assigned. Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with minimum five years' of post-college experience that can be leverageable in development work. Ability to work independently on several projects at the same time. High level of self-confidence, creativity, self-motivation, empathy, and energy needed to undertake diverse responsibilities. Quick thinking and improvisation skills, ability to remain calm under stressful situations, critical thinking skills. Possess strong organizational skills, commitment to the craft, and the ability to take ownership of both successes and mistakes. Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and a self-starting, creative extrovert. Proven experience with Social Media. Must have a curiosity and proclivity for science Ability to speak professionally about the mission to donors, sponsors, and patients with ALS. Commitment to and passion for ALS TDI's mission and ability to translate programs into compelling fundraising appeals. A strong history of developing successful business relationships. High attention to detail and attentive to deadlines. Excellent English written and verbal communication/public speaking skills. Ability to travel up to 25% of the year. This position is full-time with a hybrid work schedule (will require you to be in the office a minimum of one to three days per week).
