Position: Quality Assurance Manager Job Description Summary: Hera Technologies, LLC is an Aerospace Manufacturing company dedicated to supporting the launch vehicle, defense, space and commercial aircraft industries with advanced-material, built-to-print components. We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Quality Assurance Manager to join our team. The Quality Manager is responsible for overall development, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with AS9100 and ISO 9001:2016 requirements. This position is responsible for ensuring that all products manufactured by Hera Technologies, LLC (the "Company") and staff meet customer specifications and achieves superior quality and reliability levels. FLSA Classification: Salary Exempt Type: Full-time Work Hours: 7:00AM to 4:30PM Monday through Friday (starting time flexible) Some overtime and weekend work may be necessary. Hours may be adjusted at the discretion of your Manager. Reports to: General Manager Salary Range: $105,000 - $150,000 Location: 80% onsite at 1055 E Francis St. Ontario, CA 91761, with 20% travel to Hera East, Cape Canaveral, FL Essential Job Duties (which include, but not limited to): Daily planning of production objectives and headcount needs for quality department. Manage Corrective Action system and process, and interface with operations management to facilitate continuous improvement and defect reduction. Investigate and resolve customer complaints regarding quality. This may entail technical responses to written claims and complaints. Collaborate with customer quality representatives to report process capabilities and out of scope issues to interested customers and management personnel. Participate in recruitment efforts by evaluating applications and resumes, selecting candidates to interview, assessing qualifications, and identifying candidates to hire . Responsible for: hiring, performance assessment, and other activities related to the management of the team regional assignments. Lead and train team members in work function and processes. Ensure Company policies and procedures are followed. Guide the organization by translating customer requirements and interpreting the quality assurance philosophy. Assist the management with the creation and implementation of the QMS to support internal and external customers. Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry quality standards. Develop continuous improvement programs to ensure that Department and Company goals are being met. Coordinate customer-required audits and act as primary contact during the entire audit process. Design and implement quality record retention systems that assure quality history and data will be available for examination by customer and for proper data to be shipped with product. Create and maintain the gauge and inspection tool calibration program. Perform quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements. Interface with customers on quality issues and recommend solutions. Coordinate with Departmental leadership to document and record Employee Competency Training: Establish process for ensuring all job functions have tools and knowledge to effectively perform their jobs to a "first time Quality" level. Establish Departmental training matrices by department and job. Establish training program to ensure competency is achieved. Quality policy and departmental objectives. Oversee the receipt and inspection of incoming materials to ensure they meet job requirements per print and PO, inclusive of Outside Processed jobs. Hire, train, counsel, and review employees within the Quality Department. Reduce soft and hard fails in Source Inspection. Show via a metric. Establish Metrics for Scrap Customer Returns (RMAs) Customer Satisfaction and Quality On Time Delivery Supplier On Time Delivery Supplier Quality Supplier Control Audits Performance evaluations CARs Standardize Inspection Processes High Production parts Zotek Insulation parts Emphasis on Lox Dome Insulation Kits Fuel Tank Steps Lower Joint Covers Rohacell Support, Dual Band Astroquartz Soft Goods aka Cut & Sew Mylars -Coordination with Team Set-up processes Inspectors working closely with operators Identify & validate critical dimensions Set-up work instructions Semi-monthly (2x per month) Corrective Action meetings Metrics by Defect type Defect by Work Center Defect by product family Defect by customer Cycle time for CARs (days from start to implementation) Visibility & status of SDRs & other concession requests Support Processes Drawing Control Contract Review Non-conformance report handling & information flow Learn to perform cross-functional operations. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum 10 years' experience in a management role or equivalent combination of experience and education. Experience with implementation, training, and auditing of AS9100 principles in a manufacturing environment a must. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English, including technical terminology. Excellent interpersonal skills needed for collaboration, communication, and presentations. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and other quality documents such as: procedure instructions, operation and maintenance instructions, complex blueprints, and work order documents. Demonstrated knowledge & understanding of MRP/ERP systems. Able to sort out and convey critical information on a timely and accurate basis. Proficient in use of MS-Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook). Ability to analyze reports, draw conclusions and make recommendations based on findings. Ability to initiate statistical process controls and reports. Applied knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances). Identify and drive RCCA, FAI, PPAP, APQP, PFMEA process auditing or validation, and corrective action validations. Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills. High energy, self-starting, team player who achieves goals and strives for continuous improvement. Ability to utilizing quantitative, qualitative analytical capabilities to communicate and influence others in a concise, data driven manner. Must have practical knowledge of one or more RCCA Root cause analysis tools (8D, A3, Apollo). Ability to learn to perform cross-functional operations. Preferred Qualifications: B.A or B.S. degree in an Aerospace related field. Experience with implementation, training, and auditing of AS9100 principles in an Aerospace manufacturing environment preferred. Work authorization and Clearances: Must be US Citizen or Authorized to work in the US. Must be willing to undergo and pass a criminal background check. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug test. Work environment: Some of the work hours are in an air-conditioned open office with an assigned cubicle and comfortable seating; will require limited walk-throughs in the production area which is not air-conditioned, is noisy, and requires safety protocols. The incumbent will spend a portion of the day on their feet and must follow strict safety rules. They wear safety glasses to protect their eyes from airborne debris. Loud noise from machinery requires use of hearing protectors. They wear hard toe shoes or boots to protect their feet from potentially dropped objects. Must be able to navigate warehouse and use hands and arms to reach, feel or handle items both high and low. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Stand and/or sit for long periods of time. Sit, Stoop, Kneel and Crouch. Regularly required to talk and hear. Vision abilities required by this job include- near vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
