Job Purpose The Production Maintenance Technician performs preventive maintenance and timely repairs of production and material handling equipment to improve safety, quality, customer service, and cost performance at L.H. Hayward. The Maintenance Technician is a critical role to the overall manufacturing team of production operators, packaging, and material handlers. Essential Functions Maximize machine reliability to avoid un-planned downtime by developing, executing, and documenting effective preventative maintenance programs. In the event of unplanned downtime, actively support production operators to troubleshoot and/or repair equipment in order to resume production operations. Fulfill Maintenance work orders related to manufacturing operations. As necessary, contact suppliers, manufacturers, and other vendors to find tools, parts, or equipment specifications/assistance on repair questions. Find replacement for repairs and stocking spare parts for production and material handling equipment to prevent/minimize production downtime. Provide input on facility and factory layout during new equipment selection. Install new equipment in the warehouse and packaging room to include design and fabrication of mounting and access platforms, rails, etc., and tooling/fixtures and modifications for production. Assist in training key personnel on new equipment. Keep a current log of open Maintenance Requests with expected completion dates and advise requesters of progress on their respective maintenance orders. Keep all company equipment in good working order and company facilities in good repair. Maintain an organized parts inventory, tool storage, materials storage, and a safe workspace. Maintains daily machine logs on all production and material handling equipment accurately and in a timely fashion. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices. Collaborates well with others: proactively contributes to group objectives; volunteers to help others Must have the ability to understand and comprehend technical manuals, drawings, diagrams and any other technical data supplied by various manufacturers. Maintain advanced monitoring devices (gas, flame, or fire detectors, vibration and temperature monitors). On occasion, perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Have at least two years personal experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems associated with manufacturing machinery. Working knowledge of how PLC's control manufacturing production lines. High school diploma (technical degree preferred). Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. A valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Ability to design and fabricate fixtures, tooling, and production aids. Ability to use all types of hand and power tools. Ability to understand and act from drawings, schematics, and manufacturer's specifications. Basic computer skills include email, Word, Excel. Job Posted by ApplicantPro
