DEPARTMENT : Production JOB TITLE : Tool and Die Maintenance and Repair Assistant REPORTS TO : Manager, Machine Shop LOCATION : Lindon, UT JOB PURPOSE : Performs skilled tasks using a variety of tools to construct, modify, maintain, calibrate and repair machine shop tools, dies, jigs and fixtures. Works with engineers and tool designers to develop and modify tools. Works from blueprints, specifications and diagrams. Checks work with precision instruments. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Must be familiar with the operation of manual machine tools, including knowledge of applying correct speeds and feeds to the application without damaging machines; Basic knowledge of the following machines: Lathe, Milling, Drill Press, and Surface Grinder; Basic knowledge of blanking and shearing dies; Knowledge and application of the following tool steels: D2, A2, S7, M2, and M4 high speed steel, although the range of work will not be confined to the use of these materials; Must be able to read machine drawings and work directly from prints; CNC Machine experience preferred. ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Think and practice safety daily; Maintain equipment and machinery maintenance as assigned; Must be able to multi-task and cross train on a variety of machinery. Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested. QUALIFICATIONS Experience, Competencies and Education High School diploma or equivalent; typically requires less than 1 year of related experience. As an Entry Level position, individual must demonstrate the ability to follow directions and work within the Tool Shop Department to learn the production process; Several tasks will be assigned to aid the Department that includes manual labor (lifting, stacking, pushing, etc. of heavy objects); Strong math, measurement, reading and comprehension skills; Mechanical aptitude and trouble shooting skills; Ability to maintain positive attitude and be a strong team player; Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and/or interpret simple to moderately complex process sheets or written/verbal instruction and/or documents; Ability to understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions. Skill Acquires job skills and learns company policies and procedures to complete routine tasks. Job Complexity Works on assignments that are routine in nature, requiring limited judgment. Has little or no role in decision-making. Supervision Normally receives detailed instructions on all work. Works under close supervision.
