JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision, ensures that Wastewater Treatment plants are maintained according to standard operating procedures. Ensures that wastewater treatment plants maintain compliance according to regulatory permits. Operates and maintains treatment plants by running necessary tests. Maintains equipment and ensures proper treatment of wastewater before being disposed and/or discharged into receiving stream. Coordinates day to day operations of wastewater treatment plant to ensure compliance of plant discharge with all state and federal laws. Performs testing of wastewater and records results. Maintains pumps and related equipment. Cleans sludge drying beds and disposes of sludge. Maintains all plant equipment. Reports to Operations and Maintenance Supervisor. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Performs daily process control lab analysis to include equipment set up, sample collection and daily readings. Performs residual various process control tests and records test data. Verifies that all collected data meets regulations set forth by the South Carolina Department of Health & Environmental Control. Takes flow readings. Calibrates meters for testing and records callibrations. Ensures that wastewater treatment plant is in compliance to include chemical addition, processed control analysis, bio solids handling and disposal, data entry and analysis, daily inspections of all plant equipment, screenings handling and disposal and sample set up and collection. Performs routine preventative maintenance on all plant equipment to include greasing, changing oil, exercising machinery and valves, changing worn or broken parts, performs small repairs, assist maintenance mechanics with large repairs. Performs housekeeping duties in all buildings of the plant to include waxing floors, painting, stocking supplies, cleaning offices, sweeping, mopping, dusting, buffing floors, pressure washing. Assists in maintaining plant grounds by cutting grass, weed eating, leaf blowing and spraying round up. Assists maintenance crews during break downs of equipment by staying and assisting until the job is complete. Attends required license training classes that assist in the operation of all wastwater treatment plants. Attends various other training classes such as confined space, first aid, CPR and SCBA, etc. Assists with Grease Management Program by checking local restaurants for grease related problems in ECU sewer system. Washes and maintains company vehicles. Receives, reviews, prepares and processes various reports and records to include equipment readings, lab analysis, calculation analysis, visual analysis, verbal analysis, process control list results, daily log books, PM expert, grease management list, operation and maintenance manuals, DHEC updates, flow PH records, industry test results, and calibration of equipment readings lab analysis. Operates and utilitzes a variety of equipment and machinery to include weed eater, riding lawn mower, rotor aerator, motors, ph meter, color wheel, pocket colroimeter, oxygen meter, gas tech, staff gauge, grease gun, hoists, etc. Refers to lab results, superintedent information, lab reports, current data analysis, internal/external lab analysis, sample test results, PM expert, O and M manuals, Excel, logbook entries, process control test results, discharge permits, soids inventory sheets, etc. Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals to include superintendents, other operators, lab technician, maintenance personnel, elctricians, lead operator and the general public. Operates a variety of equipment and machinery to include, but not limited to, front end loader, skid steer loader, lawn mower, pickup trucks, pumps, blowers, diesel generators, ultraviolet distribution system, DO and pH meters, screens and compactors. Performs other related duties as required. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of three years of job related experience. Must possess a minimum South Carolina Class B Biological Wastewater Certification and state driver's license. Benefits: Health, dental, vision, and prescription benefit s.
