Head Start - Health Manager Summary Under the direction of the Head Start Assistant Director, the Health Services Manager oversees all health, nutrition, disabilities and mental health activities of the Head Start Program including supervision of staff in the health services area, plan development and monitoring, report writing, and maintaining, monitoring, tracking, overseeing and assuring confidentiality of all records. The position will work closely with all Head Start content area managers and corresponding staff. The position is responsible for meeting all related requirements as prescribed in the Head Start Act of 2007, Head Start performance Standards and state regulations; including meeting and maintaining all health/nutrition and disabilities timelines as indicated, while ensuring content area compliance. Specifically: Health/Nutrition Services Responsible for assuring Head Start children have a medical home and that an increased number of children have a dental home. Supports the analysis of menus, special diets, ensures nutrition assessments are conducted, reviews individual child and family nutrition data and develops individual nutrition plans, and confers with staff and parents about nutrition-related needs. Qualifications Must have leadership and training skills Thorough knowledge and ability to keep up-to-date on State/Federal regulations and Head Start performance standards and practices Knowledge of Head Start and two years of experience in a preschool setting Knowledge of IDEA and ADA Knowledge of treatment strategies in the areas of child behavior management and family crisis intervention Thorough knowledge and ability to keep up-to-date on State/Federal regulations and Head Start Performance Standards and practices; Understands child development 0-5 years; and advanced skill in managing staff. Superior communication and interpersonal skills highly desirable; Must be highly self-motivated and self-directing. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Nursing, Nutrition or Special Education, Social Work, Psychology or related field required; Master's degree preferred. Two (2) years administrative, supervisory experience is required. Ability to effectively plan, coordinate and evaluate the nutritional and health requirements for children and families. Special Requirements Must have reliable transportation and possess a valid California Driver License in good standing with DMV required; current liability insurance. Must meet State health requirements to include passing a physical examination as a condition of employment, and TB clearance. Mandatory CPR and Basic First Aid certificate, which employee is responsible to maintain for the duration of their employment with Head Start. Must have up to date COVID vaccination.
