Catholic Charities is hiring a Full-time (35 hours/week) STAFF ACCOUNTANT for Buffalo, NY 35-hour work week 14 paid holidays for full-time 25 PTO days a year for full-time flexible schedules comprehensive health, dental & vision coverage flexible spending accounts no cost Employee Assistance Program (EAP) 403B Retirement plan with employer contributions training and development opportunities JOB SUMMARY: The primary job function is to perform specific analytical and/or financial functions including financial reporting, analysis, month-end activities and completion of tasks consistent with department objectives. Additionally, interpret, document and summarize findings from financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Prepare detailed reports for Funders. Assist with cross-training of department personnel. Involvement in the month-end close process. Perform analysis of monthly financial statements to ensure financial information has been recorded accurately. Accounts analysis and reconciliation. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies. Prepare and input actual, standard, recurring, re-classification, and other journal entries. Prepare month-end work papers and related schedules. Provide direct support with any general ledger inquiries or data support questions. Prepare detailed reports for Program Supervisors and Senior Directors Assist with year-end audit. Effectively interact with outside independent auditors. Assist with special projects as assigned by the Assistant Director and Finance Director Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed. Ensure all Company financial data is kept confidential. Some travel required Project a positive, professional Company image Comply with the Agency's Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, laws, regulations, and ethical standards applicable to your job duties. Adheres to all applicable federal and state laws and regulations including, but not limited to those governing confidentiality, privacy, program, billing and documentation standards. All duties must be performed in accordance with CCB's corporate compliance and ethics program. EDUCATION: Minimum Associates degree & 5 years' experience BA in Accounting, Finance Preferred or equivalent. EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 5 years of diverse experience in the accounting field, with an emphasis in auditing and financial analysis. Strong understanding of month-end and year-end financial close procedures. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills while coordinating many projects at the same time. Detail oriented and highly analytical a must. Strong knowledge of GAAP. Self-motivated and team-oriented with individual initiative. Team friendly approach and an upbeat demeanor. Must have the ability to handle stressful, time limited situations in a composed and professional manner. Can prioritize and stay on task.
