Vivarium Manager

Job Description: The Vivarium Manager will be responsible for managing all vivarium-related activities and staff in a lab environment to complete client-driven projects. Primary responsibilities include: Schedule, oversee, and manage all in-vivo small rodent studies. Train and manage Animal Technicians. Participate and assist with injections, dosing, tissue collection, blood collection, and other requested animal-related procedures. Oversee the maintenance of the facility and all related records including temperature, humidity, and animal health according to standard operating procedures. Ensure the well-being of all animals in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act. Maintain breeding colonies. Participate in the generation and review of IACUC protocols and amendments and conduct post-approval monitoring. Track animal usage for each protocol. Review and maintain all vivarium-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Work with account managers to generate Statements of Work (SOWs) and to invoice clients for vivarium-related services. Generate Annual OLAW, USDA, and AAALAC reports and assurance renewals. Work with the consulting Veterinarian regarding protocols and animal care and host all vet inspections. Represent the company during USDA and AAALAC inspections. Additional duties and responsibilities as required. Job Qualifications and Requirements: High School diploma or associates degree with 5-10 years of relevant experience Experienced working with small rodents, especially mice and rats is required ALAT certification is preferred. Must be proficient with test article administration via: oral (PO), intravenous (IV), subcutaneous (SC), intramuscular (IM), intraperitoneal (IP), intradermal (ID), retro-orbital (RO), or topical administration Must be able to bleed mice and rats using the following methods: tail vein, lateral saphenous vein, facial vein, vascular catheter, retro-orbital vein, and cardiac puncture Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and work as part of a team to complete projects Must be able to lift 50 pounds Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment. Experience with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel is critical ***Night and weekend availability may be required****Position is On-Site
