The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a full-time Building Inspector to lead and improve aspects of the day-to-day operations of our Community Development department. Are you data-driven? The Building Inspector earns a competitive salary of $25.75-$27.87/per hour based on qualifications. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS THE Building Inspector The successful Building Inspector candidate will join a team of professionals committed to improving the quality of life for Pearland residents and business owners. The purpose of this position is to ensure that prompt and accurate inspections are performed for all residential, commercial, industrial and other buildings during and after construction. The successful candidate will enforce all related codes and ordinances, ensuring construction conforms to building, grading, zoning laws and approved plans, specifications and standards. REQUIREMENTS Qualified candidates must have a HS diploma or equivalent; a minimum of (2) years' experience as a building inspector; (4) or more years as a state licensed journeyman electrician, plumber or mechanical (HVAC) technician; and a Texas Plumbing Inspector's License, or ability to obtain within (12) months from hire.
