TITLE: Food Process EngineerPOSITION CLASSIFICATION: ExemptDEPARTMENT: CREA (Culinary Research and Education Academy)POSITION REPORT TO: VP OperationsSUMMARY: Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Food Process Engineer is responsible for maintaining the CREA Science Laboratory, leading studies on natural functional properties, and performing food engineering services for customers or internal company purposes. Additionally, the Food Process Engineer intensely works on ongoing projects within Cuisine Solutions.EXPERIENCE· Minimum of 5 years' or more in Food Engineering· Proven ability to work in a laboratory· Strong knowledge of food safety requirements· Strong experience with developing or updating sustainability programs· Strong project management skills· Demonstrated experience building strong rapport with clients and suppliers· Comfortable performing in a fast-pace environment, with an ability to establish priorities, multitask, manage workload, and work under pressureEDUCATION· Bachelor's degree in Food Science or Engineering or a related field· Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills· Proficiency in MS OfficeJOB RESPONSIBILITIES:· Serve as point of contact to clients for food engineering projects and communicate effectively in a timely and efficient manner including sharing of professional notes, presentations and reports.· Collaborate with suppliers to obtain the best results for product development.· Manage and master CREA's Kitchen Laboratory equipment in regards to calibration, maintenance and training others how to utilize them. Maintain maintenance schedule and report on any discrepancies with suggested solutions to management.· Establish and review testing procedures to ensure proper analysis methods are accurately followed, established, and maintain records of all tests performed.· Assist in performing studies to support CREA Training curriculum and Cuisine Solutions sales.· Participate in the CREA innovation process working in collaboration with Scientists and Chefs. Contribute to R&D recipes and testing as needed.· Prepare studies and conduct research on natural ingredients and their functional properties.· Follow Food Science Journals and research subjects relative to CREA's curriculum and consulting projects and report findings to CREA team.· Coordinate independent laboratory testing.· Record keeping of cooking curves, yield charts and scientific data.· Contribute to CREA contact database with a systematic approach.· As applicable, attend and/or present at food engineering seminars or events.· Participate in innovation presentations for CREA potential customers while articulating CREA's services portfolio.· Perform other duties as may be assigned by management.· Position requires significant travel to the different plants and customers including overseas.
