Summer Day Camp Director The City of Des Moines, Washington, is now accepting applications for Summer Day Camp Director positions. Duties include providing lead direction for all Recreation Leader I and II staff. Will help to plan, implement and lead daily recreational activities for up to 100 children, ages 5-13 attending our full day camp program (hours between 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.), Camp KHAOS (Kids Having An Outrageous Summer). The full job announcement is available at www.desmoineswa.applicantpro.com 2023 Hourly Wages: Recreation Leader III: $17.74 - $21.74 per hour. Status: Extra-hire part-time variable-hour positions with no benefits other than those mandated by law. Hours vary from 0 to 39 hours per week depending on program needs and are from June through early September. Nature of Work Reporting to Recreation Coordinator, Assistant Recreation Manager or Recreation Manager, the Summer Camp Director perform a variety of indoor and/or outdoor recreational activities and assignments in support of day camps, afterschool programs, special events and other City programs. Work hours vary based upon program and event schedules. Day Camp Directors provide lead direction to the Recreation Leader I and II staff. They help plan, implement and lead daily recreational activities for up to 100 children, ages 5-13 attending a full day camp program (hours between 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.), Camp KHAOS (Kids Having An Outrageous Summer). These are summer positions, generally lasting from mid-June through early September. As a representative of the Department of Parks, Recreation & Senior Services, a uniform will be provided and must be worn during working hours. Timeline Successful applicants should expect an interview sometime between April and May. This is subject to change. If hired, applicants should expect to attend training 6/10/2023. Dates are subject to change Camp KHAOS (full day ages 5-13 camp) runs 6/26/2023 through 9/1/2023 at the Des Moines Field House.
