This accounting position with our nonprofit earns a competitive salary of $140,000 to $170,000 per year . DAY-TO-DAY This full-time accounting position with our human services organization typically works 9 AM to 6 PM, Monday to Friday with occasional evening and weekend work as needed. As a Financial Auditing - Tax Compliance Controller with our nonprofit, you're responsible for managing our agency's tax compliance and serving as the primary contact and coordinator for government or regulatory agency audits. You manage and perform the full life cycle for internal auditing tasks, including scoping, testing, deficiency confirmation, and reporting for audits that cover financial, operational, and technological risks. Following applicable accounting and auditing standards, you perform audits of business functions and processes to ensure compliance and determine the adequacy and effectiveness of our internal controls. In addition, you conduct oral presentations of audit findings to management within the area being audited. You drive an ongoing risk assessment process to select appropriate audit projects as well as communicate findings, conclusions, and recommendations to management. Your finance responsibilities also include coordinating internal auditing functions with external auditors and ensuring work is planned in a cost-effective and efficient manner. Using your vast experience and knowledge, you identify significant business and control issues to recommend solutions that result in positive change. You also assist in designing internal audit department policies, procedures, and protocols as well as reviewing and assessing current firm-wide policies concerning technical and ethical quality controls fundamental to the performance of professional engagements. To ensure tax compliance, you establish an agency-wide system that raises awareness of applicable filings and ensures those filings are submitted on time. REQUIREMENTS FOR FINANCIAL AUDITING - TAX COMPLIANCE CONTROLLER Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance 15+ years of varied financial accounting experience with 3 years of financial reporting and analysis experience 15+ years of proven managerial or supervisory experience Experience with complex enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, such as Oracle Strong knowledge of financial analytics, budgeting, and reporting Covid-19 vaccination Experience as a controller in both public and private enterprises as well as with government contract accounting and billing would be a plus. Professional certification, such as a CPA or CMA, and association with a professional organization are desired, but multiple factors will be taken into consideration.
