POSITION TITLE : Nursing Assistant/Registered SUPERVISED BY: Charge Nurse POSITION SUMMARY: Delivers a wide range of direct resident care services such as: Caring for the residents' physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs according to the residents' individualized plans of care so as to maintain the functional ability and independence of the residents of the Crest View Community. Maintains a clean, safe environment according to the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the Crest View Community. Maintains a commitment on the part of the organization and staff consistent with the philosophy, goals, and Christian objectives of the organization. When needed will float to other nursing units with the Crest View Community. Demonstrates tactfulness and positive interpersonal communication skills with Crest View personnel, residents, and visitors. Maintains professional ethics and confidentiality. Observes Residents Bill of Rights JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a Registered Nursing Assistant in the State of Minnesota. Must maintain educational requirements to remain listed on the Nursing Assistant Registry. Must complete orientation at Crest View Community and no current medical condition which interferes with the ability to perform duties. JOB KNOWLEDGE : PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS: Must have strength and mobility to lift weight over 25 lbs. Move, assist and/or help lift residents of awkward weights(100-250 lbs.). Do repeated bending, squatting, stooping, or sitting or prolonged walking and standing, climbing, pushing, and pulling movements. JOB RESPONSIBILITES: Resident Care Treats residents with respect at all times. Provides personal care such as showers, oral hygiene, skincare, hair care, fingernail and toenail care (except for diabetic residents), toileting, etc. based on resident preferences with the objective of maintaining maximum resident functional ability Assists residents to shave daily. Assists in serving and feeding residents Records daily intake and output. Passes fresh drinking water daily. Uses safety measures for residents and self at all times. Transfers residents from bed to chair, to the toilet, etc. using a transfer Assists with restorative nursing procedures: good body alignment, bed positioning, range of motion exercises. Assists the residents to the bathroom at least every two hours and as necessary, following the bowel and bladder training program established for each resident. Encourages and assists residents and organizes cares so residents can attend activities or therapies as scheduled. Observes and reports unusual symptoms, changes, accidents, and injuries to the charge nurse in a timely manner. Listens to shift report unless otherwise directed Does temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weights, breast checks (female and male). Uses, reviews, and revises team cards under the direction of the charge nurse. Answers all call lights promptly and provides or obtains the necessary care. Ensures call lights are within reach of residents. Cares for residents requiring precautionary measures or isolation due to infections Restock resew ident supplies in rooms as need arises (i.e. toothbrush/paste, denture brush/paste, basin, soap, gloves, razors, etc.). All shifts make sure resident supplies and belongings are labeled. Cleans, disconnects, attaches urinary drainage equipment Drains and measures urine each shift. Collects specimens as requested by the charge nurse. Serves resident's food in accordance with the Director of Culinary Services' procedures and expectations for serving. This includes serving food in both resident rooms on room trays, as well as in the dining room. Ambulates residents Prevents decubiti (bedsores) through proper skincare and turning/repositioning residents a minimum of every two hours. Records pertinent information on PointClickCare Point of Care Kiosks located in resident hallways and dining rooms Terminal cleaning: strip the bed, collect all equipment such as bedpan, urinal, soap dish, basin, etc. and place in the utility room Always leave resident rooms neat and clean. Empty trash/soiled diapers: remove soiled linens and any extra linens. Reports to charge nurse before going off duty Gets assigned tasks done in a timely manner. Performs other duties as directed by charge nurse. Awareness of emergency protocols (i.e. weather, fire). Departmental Makes beds and cleans unit (includes bedside cabinet, overbed table, wardrobe, dresser) on a daily basis as assigned by the charge nurse. Cares for soiled and clean linen and personal resident laundry according to procedure. Cleans and cares for equipment and utensils as assigned by the charge nurse. Reports need for equipment repair to maintenance. Personal Completes Nursing Assistant Orientation program and Home Health Aide Training and successfully passes the examination Reports on duty at specified time. Wears the official uniform including name tag and transfer belt. Uses transfer belt and proper body mechanics. Uses correct handwashing technique and follows infection control practices. Practices personal hygiene. Is clean and well-groomed (i.e. showers, uses deodorant, teeth brushed, hair combed). Attends staff meetings and inservice education programs as required. Is able to interpret the "Residents Rights" to resident and family. Maintains good public relationships with personnel, residents, family and friends. Job Posted by ApplicantPro
