Description:
POSITION: Intern, Operations, Meter Engineering BASIC PURPOSE: The MWRA Operations Metering and Monitoring Department has an opening for a summer internship to assist the Metering staff with performance of engineering duties including hydraulic evaluation of temporary metering sites, conducting permanent meter confirmation comparisons, and assisting with database management and data analysis tasks. The preferred candidate will be enrolled in a college degree program in civil or environmental engineering or other technical field. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist with preparation of daily, weekly and monthly tracking field work and field calibration activities. Assist in compiling Consultant request of meter maps, metering data, site work plans needed for future meters. Assist preparing tracking reports of Sub-consultant's temporary metering work performed in unmetered wastewater locations. Assist evaluating permanent metering data to determine meter performance and unusual trend in meter data. Assist with populating Excel spread sheets with existing/historical meter site information. Assist data analysts with data visualizations and analysis for community presentations. Perform related duties as required. Requirements: Ability to work outside in all weather conditions The ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds Familiarity with computers, Word, Excel, AutoCAD required Experience with advanced data query and visual analysis packages, PowerBI or Tableau, Excel Pivot tables and a programming language (R/Python/SQL) preferred but not required.
