DISPATCHER MAGNOLIA ELECTRIC POWER SUMMIT, MS JOB FUNCTIONS Functions include, but are not limited to, possessing considerable skill in exercising independent judgement and working in emergency situations with speed and accuracy. Must have the ability to understand/interpret oral and written instructions. Must demonstrate acceptable telephone and radio voice projection with good enunciation. Must have calm, steady bearing with courteous telephone manners. Must demonstrate an ability to accurately input data into a PC terminal at the rate of twenty-five (25) WPM. Normal inside office conditions with shift work involved and subject to 24-hour call. *Answer incoming calls from members and initiate service *7pm - 7am including weekends *Must be able to work flexible nights hours and days on short notice *Must be able to make quick decisions with safety and efficiency being a priority EDUCATION A minimum of a two (2) year associates degree in an electrical power related discipline is required. Computer experience. EXPERIENCE A minimum of three (3) years field experience in an electrical power related industry or two (2) years' experience as an Dispatcher. TASKS, DUTIES AND RELATIONSHIPS Receives distribution cooperative outage reports. Takes necessary action to restore service as soon as possible observing all safety rules as required. Does special work assignment from time to time as directed. Assists in compiling reports and other data as required. Keeps familiar with all company policies. Maintains a general knowledge of all related electrical services provided by the cooperative. Issues switching orders on request from field. Coordinates switching with interconnecting utilities. Reports all pertinent system disturbance and activities to Director of System Operations. Performs routine housekeeping in Dispatch Center as needed. Attend dispatch safety/training meetings. Maintains a chronological log of system conditions, clearances, hot line orders, radio communications, breaker operations, and all pertinent conditions. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Works in a climate-controlled office environment. Job requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Requires good finger dexterity, repetitive motions with hands and fingers. Requires ability to perform close work, have good vision and hearing. Works Night Shift, typically a 7pm -7am, and various days and shifts. Performs other duties as assigned.
