Description:
As a senior mechanical engineer at Kros-Wise, you will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of mechanical and electro-mechanical products and systems. You will work on a variety of projects, from small components to large systems, and will be involved in all stages of the product development cycle. In addition to your technical expertise, you will also be responsible for managing and mentoring junior engineers, and for providing input on departmental budget and staffing decisions. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, and experience with CAD software. He or she will be a creative problem solver with excellent communication and project management skills. Duties & Responsibilities Serve as the lead mechanical engineer on multiple projects, providing guidance and mentorship to junior staff Manage all aspects of mechanical engineering design for new product development, from feasibility studies through production release Develop creative solutions to challenging problems that meet or exceed customer expectations Prepare detailed engineering drawings and specifications for both manufacture and assembly Perform hands-on prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanisms and electro-mechanical systems Interface with suppliers to select off-the-shelf components and develop custom solutions Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, software, and industrial design engineers Write technical reports documenting findings and present results to management Stay up-to-date on industry trends and developments, and share knowledge with team members Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and effectiveness Adhere to company quality standards and procedures Comply with all applicable safety regulations Required Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field 10+ years experience as a mechanical engineer, with progressive responsibility Proven experience leading teams of engineers Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control standards Expertise in computer-aided design (CAD) software Working knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) Ability to obtain a security clearance Preferred Skills and Qualifications Master's degree in mechanical engineering or related field 15+ years experience as a mechanical engineer PE license Experience with defense contracting Experience with Six Sigma or other process improvement methodology
