The Arc Wayne of Newark, NY is seeking to hire full time Speech/Language Pathologist or Speech Therapist for our Roosevelt Children's Center to provide speech/language services and complete the necessary paperwork for each child in the caseload. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A SPEECH/LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST OR SPEECH THERAPIST As a Speech/Language Pathologist or Speech Therapist, you will complete speech/language testing and reports for each student in the caseload, as determined by the student's IFSP/IEP, and will plan and write IFSP/IEP goals and objectives for each student, progress reports, and update IFSP's/IEP's as required, within an interdisciplinary approach. You will plan and implement speech/language programs for each child in the caseload in center-based, home-based, and/or community-based programs, facilitating a close working relationship with parents; you will provide support and encouragement, as well as training/education as required, and will maintain and complete all IFSP/IEP paperwork requirements as required in a timely manner. You will develop and implement classroom curriculum with the classroom team, and will complete all required paperwork for documenting delivery of services to students in Early Intervention and 3-5 programs. You will make referrals for services and/or evaluations outside the agency, when needed, in coordination with the classroom team, parents, Service Coordinators, and CPSE's, and will consult with them, and other professionals, as to any changes involving students' needs and programs. You will participate in weekly team meetings, on each student in the caseload, for the purpose of assessment, comprehensive program planning, information sharing, and carryover of goals in all skill areas. You will complete hearing screenings, testing, and tympanometry on all students in the caseload, including all necessary paperwork, record keeping, and physician/parent contact. You will work closely with staff and team members for developing consistent classroom behavioral management and handling techniques; will participate in all staff meetings, in-service workshops, and appropriate conferences in the field, attending IFSP/CPSE meetings as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Speech Therapist : Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped/Students with Speech-Language Disorders (TSHH/TSSLD) Enrollment in a Master's Program or Clinical Fellow; Prefer NY State License/ASHA Certification MS or MA in Communication Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology; Current NY State Licensure and registration, ASHA certification, and maintains CEU requirements as indicated by NY State and ASHA. WORK SCHEDULE This is for a full-time position, Monday-Friday (40 hours/week)(7:45am-3:45P), school year and 6-week summer program.
