Position Title : Human Resources Specialist I REPORTS TO : Human Resources Manager SUPERVISES: No JOB STATUS : Non-Exempt JOB GRADE 10: $48,526.40 - $72,779.20 Annually JOB SUMMARY : We're seeking an employee to assist the Human Resources Department with the day to day HR functions and operations to ensure consistent and accurate compliance with Credit Union policies as well as Federal/State regulations. This position functions to provide comprehensive HR support to all departments, programs and facilities throughout the credit union in the areas of compensation, classification, benefits, payroll, recruitment and transactions processing, Position will help enforce policies and procedures, federal and state laws related to Human Resources such as Fair Labor Standards Act, Equal Pay Act, Age Discrimination Act, and Family Medical Leave Act. This position will collaborate with management in consultation of executive leadership to provide an overall positive work environment for all staff. DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: Process HR functions to include advertisement, recruitment, data entry of new hires, transfers, promotions, resignations, and payroll. Help facilitate new employee orientation, provide support with corrective action, and facilitate the performance management process in alignment with Credit Union policy. Process and provide support to management with regards to FMLA & ADA requests Model, coach, and mentor employees while upholding the principles of the State ECU values. Develop tasks to improve workflow and operating efficiency in performing human resources functions. Send out weekly announcements and run various job reports as needed. Perform regular administrative duties in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) Ensure compliance with established policies and Federal/State regulations. Participate in the development of departmental policies, procedures, goals, and objectives. Participate in the education of managers and employees in the interpretation and application of HR policies, benefits, compensation, workers compensation, payroll, and recognition programs. Oversee the daily administration of the employee event management system (onboarding tool). Notify appropriate department personnel to issue door codes, network passwords, etc. Maintain Employee Review schedule to track the upcoming reviews and notify managers of evaluations due. Responsible for the creation and maintaining of electronic and paper employee/benefit folders. Employee data entry and upload employee documents into the HRIS. Manage change of status requirements (name or address change, marital change, promotion, salary increase, etc.) and forward to Payroll for processing. Maintain accurate employee records to include participation in benefits such as insurance, FSA and 401k. Manage employee separations, i.e. notify payroll, notify appropriate department personnel to de-activate network access and building access, etc. This includes preparing the separation package and facilitating exit interview(s). Assist Human Resources in administering the benefits package offered to staff. Understand compliance issues and attends training as they relate to the Human Resource Specialist position, including, but limited to Bank Secrecy Act; Reg P; Patriot Act. Performs other duties as assigned. Education/Experience: Education or experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or similar, in addition to 3 plus years of relevant work experience. QUALIFICATIONS: Requires ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels within the organization. Patience, tact, enthusiasm and positive attitude toward employees and the general public. Must have ability to evaluate and interpret information of varying complexity and make independent decisions. Requires the ability to remain calm under stress and/or while multi-tasking. Extensive experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, with basic to advanced Excel skills being required. Experience handling invoices, reconciliations, and other clerical tasks is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Demonstrated emotional intelligence in handling sensitive matters with confidentiality, professionalism, and care. Job Related Travel - As required. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be capable to execute all terms and conditions set forth in the Employee Handbook, including but not limited to: Works in a safety conscious manner which ensures that safe work practices are used in order not to pose a risk to self or others in the workplace. Adheres to policy on Drug Free Workplace. Complies with company policies and procedures and local, state and federal regulations. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires sitting for long periods of time, some standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, bending, lifting, grasping and fine hand coordination. Visual and aural acuity required. Finger and hand dexterity required. Must be able to lift 15 pounds maximum, with occasional lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Requires ability to remain calm under stressful situations. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
