TITLE : Director of the CHIP Center REPORTS TO : Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs & Dean of Students REQUIREMENTS: The Director of the CHIP Center must have a minimum of an earned Master's Degree in Public Health, Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Higher Education, Education, Student Affairs, or similar area. RESPONSIBILITIES : The Director is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the daily operations of the CHIP Center which includes ensuring compliance with New York State laws in terms of immunizations and health records, as well as providing health and wellness education to our students through the advisement of Wildcat Wellness, mandatory Bystander Intervention Training, substance abuse education, and more. The director will serve as the institution's lead public health expert, advising the University in terms of emergency response, programming, community outreach and support, and health care coordination. BENEFITS : This is a full-time, 12-month non-exempt position (35 hours per week) and includes full college benefits and professional development opportunities. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as the administrative Director of the CHIP Center, ensuring the cohesive delivery of health and counseling services. Ensure that Daemen University is 100% compliant by enforcing the mandate that students provide documentation of immunizations required by New York State Public Health Laws, parts 20165 and 2167, and report the status of compliance to NYS Department of Health by mandated reporting date each year. Must cooperate fully with and assist in NYSDOH health record audits as required by the State. Serve on the University's Emergency Response Team in the capacity of public health expert, providing guidance and support on all areas of public health as it affects the quality of life for Daemen University faculty, staff, and students. Lead both counseling and health staff in moving the CHIP Center vision forward through service delivery and goal attainment. Compile, review for accuracy and compliance with NYS law, and process student immunization records; provide follow-up with students whose immunization records are incomplete or fail to meet the mandates of the law, including international students. Act as Health Network Coordinator with NYSDOH. Respond to all communiques from NYSDOH with regard to disease outbreaks/epidemics and alert students and their families to potential health risks. Provide regular flu clinics to the campus. Identify and network with area health care providers to meet students' particular needs/requirements. Administer Daemen University's Student Health and Accident Insurance Program by enrolling those students who wish to participate in the plan, guiding students through the medical claims process, issuing insurance identification cards, answering questions regarding health benefits, as well as explaining how to use Family Care Medical Center as their primary health care provider. Plan, implement and evaluate CHIP Center wellness programs and events. Advise the Wildcat Wellness student organization Chair and meet regularly with Wildcat Wellness Campus Committee; work with each committee member to address current and potential wellness concerns within the campus community. Oversee alcohol, drug, and sexual violence awareness and prevention initiatives in collaboration with the Director of Community Standards and Student Advocacy including, but not limited to: bystander intervention training, poster campaigns, video production and campus wide events. Serve as the CHIP Center representative on the CARE Team. Submit CARE reports for student concerns; check in with students to assess the situation, share supportive resources and submit prolonged absence notices (PAN) to support students academically. Perform all other duties as assigned.
