ABOUT THE DONALDSON RUN RECREATION DRRA opened on August 3, 1958, and has grown as a 600-family non-profit membership association. We are an outdoor recreation center that features an outdoor pool, basketball court, and volleyball court. The main pool is 600,000 square feet in an "L" shape configuration with three diving boards. There is also a baby pool, a bathhouse, and a snack bar. Donaldson Run Recreation Association is located in the Donaldson Run neighborhood in Arlington, VA. Adjacent to Marcey Park and Potomac Overlook Regional Park. Our guests enjoy the pool from May to late September.To provide top-notch recreational services, we have to hire the best! A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ASSISTANT POOL MANAGER As an Assistant Pool Manager, you play a vital role in the functionality of our company. Under the direct supervision of the general manager, you supervise the total operation of the recreational facility, including the swimming pool, snack bar, picnic area, and sports area. Using your leadership skills, you assist the general manager in supervising approximately 75 seasonal workers, including lifeguards, cashiers, snack bar attendants, maintenance workers, and contracted workers. As part of the management team, you help schedule staff, maintain timesheets and hourly records, and perform employee evaluations.Additionally, you fill an important role in supporting our swim and dive teams. You do so by assisting with setting up and breaking down swim meets and arranging for and supervising lifeguards. Our swim and dive teams are a big part of our facility, and you are always available during swim and dive practices.You lend a hand wherever you're needed, so your days are never the same. You collect, count, and record receipts while keeping accurate records of all financial transactions. If the snack bar manager is unavailable, you oversee the opening procedures, closing procedures, and normal daily functions of the snack bar. When you are directly in charge of the pool, you perform all the pool manager's supervisory functions and keep it clean and ready for use. In addition to changing the pool filters, this includes properly using and storing the required chemicals. There are times when you do work odd hours or are needed to be on call. You enjoy working outside and ensuring that our members have an enjoyable day! QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ASSISTANT POOL MANAGER 18+ years old 2+ years of experience in lifeguarding Experience in management Experience in using, handling, and storing chemicals Valid pool operator certifications or up-to-date experience Current lifeguard, CPR, and first aid certifications Lifeguard Management certification Limited Food Safety Certification Availability to work all holidays and holiday weekends, plus special social events during the season Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Mathematical and accounting skills Leadership skills Availability to work from Mother's Day weekend to the third week in September is also preferred.
