JOIN OUR TEAM AS A HEARING AND VISION TECHNICIAN Job Description Summary: The Hearing and Vision Technician provides screenings to youth in schools, daycare and Head Start programs. Job Duties: Provide preliminary hearing screening to children and adolescents Provide vision screening to children and adolescents Document results of screening correctly and in a timely manner Enter data into pre-approved forms/databases. Assist in generating monthly reports Submit necessary forms for each program, times sheets, and activity sheets filled out correctly and in a timely manner Schedule screening sessions in the community Make follow-up telephone calls regarding screening sessions, results, and referrals Maintain Michigan credentials for Hearing and Vision screening as determined by Wayne County Department of Public Health and the Michigan Department of Community Health Develop effective working relationships with a wide variety of people to assure efficient screenings Education and Experience: High School Diploma or Equivalent; AND 1 year of paid experience (minimum of 10 hours/week) working with children in a medical setting (Doctor's office, clinic or hospital); OR Six (6) months of paid experience (minimum of 10 hours/week) working in an education setting (Day Care, After school program, Pre-school, Elementary/secondary school, school lunch-room and/or school library); AND A valid state of Michigan driver's license with safe and acceptable driving record. Note: This position gets summers off and a stipend for daily mileage. Also, technicians who obtain Threshold Certification receive additional compensation. Work hours will be approximately 30 hrs. per week.
