Position Announcement: Psychology Faculty Position Description: Northeastern Junior College is seeking applications for an Instructor of Psychology. The successful applicant should have the skills to become a "program champion" with strong background and experience in psychology and community mental health. This position will generally instruct five psychology courses each semester and may be expected to teach via distance education to area high schools or during non-traditional hours (evenings or weekends). This position will be expected to serve on our Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) that addresses student issues related to mental health and behaviors. The instructor will serve as academic advisor to students in their program of study. This position will advise psychology students and others and offer guidance regarding their academic and career plans. Psychology teaching experience and community mental health experience is preferred. Being a team player and having the ability to build rapport is essential. Additional responsibilities are those generally expected of full-time faculty, including committee assignments and advising students. Qualifications: Master's degree in Psychology or related field (e.g., Counseling, Mental Health, Social Work) Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Work experience using one's background in psychology or mental health counseling, including Community Mental Health Knowledge/experience with computer technology, especially MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of settings. Refined presentation and facilitation skills. Experience taking or teaching distance learning classes Contract specifics: This position begins August 1, 2023. This is a 163-day full-time faculty position with a salary range of $43,000-$52,950 commensurate with education and experience. Competitive fringe benefit package available through SBCCOE. College/Community Profile: Northeastern Junior College, one of 13 member-colleges of the Community Colleges of Colorado, lies in the rural northeastern Colorado town of Sterling. The community of approximately 13,000 residents enjoys easy access to Denver, the Rocky Mountains and the western-agricultural lifestyle. Northeastern Junior College enrolls approximately 1,500 full and part-time students through a wide variety of majors in associate degree and certificate programs. Approximately 65-70% of our students indicated they plan to transfer on to complete a four-year degree while the other 30-35% of our students pursue careers after completing an AAS degree or certificate program. As a residential campus with six residence halls accommodating 550 students, the college attracts students from throughout Colorado, many states and several foreign countries. Approximately 50 full-time and 30 part-time faculty comprise the teaching staff.
