Position Summary : The Seasonal Parks Maintenance - Athletic Fields is a seasonal summer position and is available on a temporary basis. Under the direction and supervision of the Horticulturist II, the position is scheduled on a 40-hour week which includes weekends. The Seasonal Parks Maintenance - Horticulture picks up refuse, trims bushes & shrubs, maintains landscape and assists the Full Time horticulturist in various tasks as needed. This summer position may sub in for other tasks such as maintain and groom athletic fields, repair park equipment, and repair signage. Compensation: $13 an hour Essential Duties & Responsibilities Remove all refuse and trash from parks and playgrounds. Recycle materials as appropriate according to disposal company directions. Sets up athletic fields (painting fields, laying out soccer and football fields, lining baseball fields Assists in grooming ball fields, weeding ball fields, edging ballfields. Uses athletic field equipment paint striper, field groomer, gators, truck, trailers etc. Performs other duties as assigned Competencies Ability to follow directions and communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Ability to use of computer software applications. Ability to work in a team atmosphere. Ability to maintain self-control and composure in difficult situations. Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing situations. Required Qualifications 18 years of age or older. Holds a valid driver's license with the ability to successfully pass a driver's abstract review. Ability to drive company vehicles. High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications Previous Park Maintenance experience. Environmental & Physical Demands Employee will be required to work inside and outside during various environmental conditions, such as, but not limited to rain, mud, and heat, sun, dust, dirt, and noise exposure. Employee must have the physical agility to maintain mobility from site to site and be able to perform heavy manual tasks. (e.g lifting 50lbs) Employees may perform duties which include, not limited to repetitive lifting, stooping, walking, bending, twisting, and climbing for an extended period.
