Spurwink Services is seeking a dynamic Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to fill a full-time position within our Lewiston day treatment program to provide direct treatment services to students with emotional, and developmental disabilities, ages 5 to 20. Spurwink provides special education programming for students based on an academic year, as well as a 28-day summer component. Maine state licensure fees and ASHA dues paid, and administrative supervision provided. Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Communication Disorders and Maine State License required. Jumpstart your career with Spurwink by getting in touch with us today. DUTIES: Assist SLP in conducting speech, language, and hearing screenings without clinical interpretation. Assist SLP during assessment of clients, exclusive of administration and interpretation. Implement treatment plans developed by supervising SLP to ameliorate disorders of speech, language, hearing, voice, and fluency. Collect data regarding client progress as required for Individualized Educational Program (IEP) and Individual Service Plan (ISP) and report data to SLP. Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with school, state, and federal policy. Complete required documentation of client performance (i.e., data collection/progress tracking) and services performed (i.e., clinical notes). Participate as member of the interdisciplinary team in IEP and/or ISP meetings, case conferences, and consultations only with supervising SLP present. Conduct set-up, customization, reprogramming, maintenance, and training related to the use of an augmentative and alternative communication system as appropriate. Perform behavior management, including passive physical restraint, life space interview, and therapeutic duties as stated in client's ISP. Participate in supervision with SLP as specified by ASHA and Maine state licensure requirements. QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's degree in an SLPA program or Bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology or communication disorders program, and successful completion of 100 hours of supervised fieldwork experience or its clinical experience equivalent.
