Riley Construction Co., Inc. is seeking an experienced Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Engineer to join our team in our Milwaukee, WI office. Looking for all levels. The VDC Engineer will be an integral part of multiple project teams, developing model content for projects through construction, managing the coordination of multiple contractors' models and teams, and utilizing industry technology to communicate project plans, designs, and installation requirements across multiple levels of involvement. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong proficiency in visualizing multiple aspects of various project types. Responsibilities: Manage, plan, and implement various BIM-related processes on projects including existing conditions modeling, cost estimation, phase planning, 3D visualization, 3D coordination, and site utilization planning. Model various components of projects including but not limited to cast-in-place concrete, masonry, and detailed structural models and drawings based on construction documents, specifications, product submittals, RFI's, and shop drawings. Manage the Building Coordination processes for projects as a member of the project team during this phase. Prepare record models for turnover to customers upon project completion. Identify constructability issues, and missing information, and notify the project team of these issues and RFI's that need to be written. Maintain open communication with project teams, to resolve issues in a timely manner Assist in modeling content from early design through construction, for visualization and estimating Stay informed on best practices for use of Revit, Navisworks, Revizto, and other industry technology. Work with the Construction Technology Manager and other VDC staff to develop company standards and implement them across individual projects. Perform additional assignments per the supervisor's direction. Once an individual displays mastery of all job duties assigned to a VDC Engineer, opportunities for growth include: Option to express interest in the following role, with the potential for consideration for promotion / vertical move. Senior VDC Engineer (Office-based role) Ideal for individuals who are certain about their desire to stay in a BIM related position. Additional coordination between subcontractors as well as deeper knowledge of the equipment being installed. If no promotion / vertical move is desired, team members may also consider doing the following: Remain as a VDC Engineer Focus on improving current responsibilities, help leadership create procedures, etc. for specific aspects of the position. Lateral transfer to another department ** Requirements: Bachelor's or associate degree in Architecture, Construction management, Civil engineering, Construction Administration, or similar discipline 3-5 years of relevant industry experience Proficiency in visualizing and creating detailing drawings per industry standards, proficient in reading contract documents, and possessing a basic understanding of construction and generally accepted business practices. High level of competency with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Trimble SketchUp, Microsoft 365 products and Bluebeam Revu, Revizto, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) preferred. Training will be provided. Ability to assist with advanced BIM software troubleshooting and basic hardware troubleshooting. Detailed understanding of the design and construction process, including virtual mockups, visual schedules, master plans, construction sequences, and detail orientation sufficient to organize and effectively manage multiple tasks. Ability to work closely with project teams, working within project schedules, have strong presentation and communications skills, ability to adjust communication approach and format to meet the needs of differing personalities, expectations, and types of clients and designers, and must be willing to travel to project sites as needed.
