Director of The Aspire Program T he Aspire Program at Carthage College provides a comprehensive 4-year career preparation program, which helps students develop a dynamic approach to goal-setting and life skill-building with emphasis on building skills in career development, entrepreneurship, leadership, and creativity. Students will own their ability to be lifelong learners and impactful contributors in the world and to recover when plans don't go as expected. The stakeholders in this program include students, families, faculty, staff, prospective students and families, community members, trustees and administrators. The Director of The Aspire Program strategically coordinates career development programming, develops resource materials, oversees the implementation of technology platforms and data analysis of all Aspire related events and programs. The Director of The Aspire Program will educate and train staff members about career development including program planning, analysis of successful events and communication about programs. The role of the Director of The Aspire Program falls into three main categories: Strategic Programming and Analysis, Broad Communication and Leadership. Strategic Programming Provides strategic direction and leadership for implementing, enhancing and assessing the My Aspire Plan (MAP), Carthage's 4 year career development plan. Develop planning practices for events that provide equitable learning experiences to all students, provide program development support to staff, and facilitate presentations to stakeholders. Collaborates with Executive Director to integrate faculty and their curriculum into the My Aspire Plan Participates in campus-wide career services community providing input to leadership regarding the development of advising, recruitment, and co/curricular programs offered by the school/college/unit Strategically implement department software/technology and provide direction to staff on infusion of the My Aspire Plan into course curriculum and co-curricular activities Coordinate consistent training between staff and software platforms Meet with technology consultants regularly to update program Review and renew technology contracts Design an end-to-end roadmap for students to track, reflect, and connect their college level experiences to career ready NACE competencies and Institutional Student Learning Outcomes utilizing Suitable, a student engagement software. Collaboratively plan and execute signature campus events integrating students, alumni, faculty, and employers to explore career industries, create connections, and develop leadership, creativity, and entrepreneurial skills Create events to a large scale of 250+ stakeholders while helping students record reflections about the event in their My Aspire Plan (MAP) Manage event calendar details (overseeing event approval process, ensuring accurate event information is collected, and communicating effectively to all stakeholders), develop assessment tools and collect relevant event data. Collaborate with the team to synthesize and evaluate event and program outcomes to help make recommendations for future programs Leadership Lead a team of five Career Specialists and the Purposeful Life and Leadership Coordinator to strategically and cohesively connect students and alumni to vocation exploration, internship, employment and research opportunities by utilizing external and internal stakeholders Coordinate team to lead MAP activities, including events/workshops/ programs Provide bi-annual performance evaluation to relevant staff members Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion: Work with colleagues to explore and strategize ways to intentionally support students from historically underrepresented and/or first-generation backgrounds, specifically as it relates to programming. Cultivate professional development activities including involvement in state, regional, and national associations. Broadly Communicate Design, coordinate and execute marketing plans including messaging campaigns for department initiatives Oversee the production of publications/promotional materials including program documents and topical office handouts Create communication and marketing pieces Provide communication strategies to staff aligning the My Aspire Plan into regular communications Provide monthly updates on programs for stakeholder newsletters Update department website as needed EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS Master's degree or equivalent preferred, Bachelor's degree required PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Ability to work cross-generationally with a commitment to equity and inclusion Experience in advising, teaching, or counseling Skilled with use of technology including communication tools, databases and information management systems. Experience with technology platforms including: Suitable, PeopleGrove, Navigate, Workday is preferred, but not required Possesses effective written and verbal communication skills across mediums.
