Design a career and build your future... Because it matters! McMillen is currently looking for a Hydraulic Steel Structures Engineer . The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and analyzing Hydraulic Steel Structures (HSS) such as Tainter gates, Miter gates, bulkheads, stoplogs, and penstocks, and ensuring compliance with HSS design codes and standards, such as US Army Corps EM 1110-2-2107, Bureau of Reclamation Design Standards and FERC Engineering Guidelines. The candidate should have a strong background in structural analysis, proficiency in design software, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. A candidate with a background in bridge design per AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design specifications will be considered. This includes determining design loads and load combinations, calculating stresses and deflections using structural software and hand calculations, selecting member sizes based on relevant criteria including, strength, serviceability, fatigue, fracture, and constructability, and developing detailed construction drawings and specifications. A background in welding design and welding processes is a plus. This would include the design, development, and application of welding techniques and technologies and ensuring that welding processes are efficient, effective, and meet all relevant codes and standards. Responsibilities: Design and analyze hydraulic steel structures using appropriate software and methods Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards. USACE EMs, FERC Engineering Guidelines, Bureau of Reclamation Design Standards, AISC STEEL MANUAL, and AWS D1.1 and D1.5 Manage projects from conception to completion Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, contractors, and other engineers Provide technical support to other team members Review and approve engineering drawings and specifications Conduct site inspections and field visits Prepare engineering reports and other technical documentation Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field Professional Engineer (PE) license Minimum of 5 years of experience in hydraulic steel structures design and analysis or other related field such as steel bridge design Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Inventor Pro, and STAAD.Pro Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Willingness to travel and work on-site as needed (15%) Who We Are: McMillen, Inc.
